How we made a difference in 2017
A member of the TELUS Thompson Okanagan Community Board since 2011, Sean Pihl was named Chair in 2014. Raised in the Okanagan Valley before moving to Vancouver and later Halifax, Sean attended Dalhousie Law School where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws and was called to the Bar in 1997. He has appeared at the Provincial, Supreme and Appellate Court levels, in addition to his extensive arbitration and mediation experience. Sean practices exclusively in the area of civil litigation, with an emphasis on complex personal injury litigation and employment law.
Passionate about giving back, Sean focuses his volunteer efforts primarily on community and professional development. He was previously a board director of the School District #23 Student Assistance Association; President of the Canadian Mental Health Association (Kelowna Branch); Treasurer of the Kelowna Junior Chamber of Commerce; and President of the Kelowna Bar Association. Sean is also Past Chair and founder of the Canadian Bar Association’s Okanagan Civil Litigation Section. He is a volunteer lecturer at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus) and has presented at educational seminars on a variety of legal topics.
